Who we are
The Actor's Director Workshop runs directing and acting workshops and private coaching in Los Angeles, led by Sheryl Lee and Gary Hershberger. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean The Actor's Director Workshop, and "the site" means www.theactorsdirectorworkshop.com.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us:
- Contact form: your name, email address, the role you select (director, actor, writer and so on), what you're interested in, and your message.
- Mailing list: your email address.
- Host a workshop inquiry: your name, email address, organization, city, group type and size, preferred format and dates, and your message.
- Payments: when you reserve a workshop spot or pay for coaching, you pay through PayPal. PayPal collects your payment details. We receive your name, email address and the amount paid, but never your card or bank details.
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. We don't use this to identify you.
How we use it
- To reply to your messages and inquiries.
- To register you for a workshop and send you the details you need, such as location, parking and what to bring.
- To email you about new workshop dates if you joined the mailing list.
- To arrange and take payment for private coaching.
- To keep the site secure and working properly.
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Services that help run the site
We use a small number of trusted services. Each handles your information only to provide its service, under its own privacy policy:
- Netlify hosts the site and securely stores form submissions. Netlify privacy policy
- PayPal processes workshop and coaching payments, including Venmo and card payments. PayPal privacy statement
- Google provides our email (Gmail), where form submissions are delivered, and the site's fonts (Google Fonts). Google privacy policy
- Cloudflare (cdnjs) and unpkg deliver some of the code that runs the site's animations. When your browser loads these files, those services receive your IP address.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our students, instructors or the public.
Cookies
The site itself doesn't use cookies for tracking or advertising, and we don't use analytics tools. When you use the PayPal checkout, PayPal may set its own cookies to process your payment securely. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the checkout may not work without them.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe: reply to any of our emails or write to us, and we'll remove you from the mailing list.
- Access, correct or delete: you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email theactorsdirectorworkshop@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
We keep form messages and payment records only as long as we need them to run the workshop, answer your questions and meet tax and accounting requirements.
How we protect your information
The site uses a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS), and form submissions are stored with our hosting provider rather than on the site itself. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Children's privacy
The site is meant for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
We're based in the United States, and the services we use may store information in the United States and other countries. By using the site, you understand that your information may be handled outside your own country.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
